One Community, One Pack

As a Junior, this week was my third Homecoming experienced in my college career. It was by far the best Homecoming and quite possibly the best week ever! Despite the loss against our big rival, UNLV, the University of Nevada showed an immense amount of school spirit, pride and joviality throughout the week.

I will never forget when I visited Nevada during my college search in high school. One aspect of the University that greatly stood out to me is the amount of school spirit each student has.

Walking through campus was like walking through a Nevada Bookstore advertisement. Everywhere I looked I saw someone in Wolf Pack shirts, hats, sweatshirts. I love how much the students and community at Nevada show pride in their school.

This week’s Homecoming was no disappointment to the great school spirit Nevada shows.

Great events all week led up to one out of control and crazy fun football game. On Friday, the students participated their annual homecoming parade, but this year the ASUN chose to have the parade start at the Reno Arch and move through downtown up to campus. It was a great success. People of all ages came to support the floats made by students and rally for the game the following day.

I had the great opportunity to ride on one of the floats and I had never smiled so much in my life. Downtown Reno and the University came together for the great event. I hope they continue the tradition and start the parade downtown every year.

Saturday’s game was sold out with a record 32,500 people in attendance! The game was close and kept everyone on their feet eager to see who was going to bring home the canon.

Despite Nevada’s loss (22-27), the Pack showed that they are an overall amazing school (far better than UNLV). We are one community, one pack. We stick together, we have pride in our school and we make the best out of our college experience.

Thank you Nevada for an amazing Homecoming week!
